Ear Biscuits—Tasty?

Let me just start off by saying, I have been a fan of Rhett & Link for a while, at least in terms of their YouTube channel. The podcast is actually pretty good, if you like a sort of deep discussion with other YouTube celebrities. They sometimes interview themselves, and you get a better look at their personal lives and antics of their younger years. This is all well and good, and sometimes they actually get into deep stuff, with plenty of take-away for the listeners. I know I have learned a few things myself. I also learned that I do NOT want to be a YouTuber.

I might go into YouTube videos in a later post, but for now, I'm just going to talk about Rhett & Link's podcast, Ear Biscuits. It's a clever name, very original, and it makes sense. The reason behind the name was that, apparently, the YouTubers wanted their podcast to be "as tasty as a biscuit" (Episode 1) and it's "for your ears". This is an example of the goofy humor that Rhett and Link continue to display throughout the rest of the podcast.

I have gotten through 43 episodes out of 183, so I have quite a way to go before I have heard all they have to offer (and they put out a new episode every Friday). I admire their motivation and their consistency; they have been putting out a new episode every week for five years, with occasional one-week or two-week breaks for holidays or family things. They even record episodes when they are travelling, which shows dedication.

The podcast content varies, due to the fact that—with the exception of the Rhett-and-Link-only episodes, which have recently outweighed the guest episodes—they interview a totally different person every time, but for the most part they are relatively family-friendly, however some guests do tend to swear, and while exponentially bad words are bleeped out, there are some words that aren't. The topics fluctuate, and sometimes include the guests' love lives at times, however briefly. Don't get me wrong, they don't go into detail or anything like that, and maybe I'm just a little biased because I personally don't like listening to stuff like that, but with some guests things are implied and not appropriate for younger children.

Overall, sure, most of the Ear Biscuits are tasty. At times, halfway educational. There are of course, much better choices if you're looking to learn something, but I think Rhett and Link did a good job with their podcast, and still do a good job.

I will update this post as I listen to more episodes, so stay tuned!
