Story Pirates: One of THE BEST Childrens' Podcasts Ever

I am a big fan. Even though I could be a decade over the intended age, I listen every week and enjoy every one. The idea of Story Pirates is so original and is carried out with such finesse and hilarity that listeners can't help being fans. The humor is not lost on kids or adults, and while childish at times, there are definite laugh-out-loud moments. The idea, for those of you who don't know, is basically, the children listeners write their own little short stories (and we all know that kids say the darnedest things, so the stories are bound to be hilarious on their own) and the group of four adults (plus others, it varies form episode to episode) act out the stories as radio sketch comedy and songs. How cool is that?

The stories are extremely original and very, very funny. It does not disappoint with the amount of kids' stories they receive; they always manage to retain their style regardless of the stories they get.

One of my favorite episodes include William Woods, a story by a fourth-grader about a "seventeen-year-old who looks eighteen", who is also quite possibly the greatest golf player of all time. To quote the story, "he always gets a hole-in-one, even on par-fives!" This story is so bonkers you can't help but laugh.

Another of my top favorites is Monster Broke, a hilarious kind of comedy-of-errors by a kindergartner. This story is, long story short, about a monster truck and his driver, who have made it their mission to help their monster truck competitors by "calling a tow truck" when they break down. Unfortunately, they drop their phone out of the truck, and eventually, every monster truck driver drops their phone, and no one can call a tow truck. The radio announcer ends up calling the tow truck after the phones are blown onto a roof and the hopeless firemen barely get them down. I was in stitches the first time I listened to it, and chuckling the next few times.

The Story Pirates also have a live show, and they go on tour all over the United States. They have many different program for children who want to write their own stories, and it's really neat to see all of these adults dedicating themselves to children's entertainment.

I highly recommend this podcast—to anyone and everyone.
